PROPERTY TAXES & ASSESSMENTSUnder RCW 84.56.020, any single property with a total amount due of $49.99 or less is due in full with the 1st installment on April 30th; any total of $50.00 or more can be divided into 2 installments. Installment due dates are: 1ST Installment Due April 30th; 2nd Installment Due October 31st. You may pay the full year or balance of any remaining annual tax at any time during the current year. Penalty & interest may apply if your installment is not made timely.
PENALTY & INTERESTTo avoid penalty and interest, please make payments by the due dates listed above. Any interest and penalties will be added in accordance with RCW 84.56.020. Any taxes that remain due prior to January 1, 2026 remain due and payable as per RCW 84.56.020. If your payment is late, please contact the Treasurer’s Offi ce for the current amount due or visit www.GrantCountyWA.govwww.GrantCountyWA.gov.
RETURNED ITEM FEES / RETURNED E-CHECKSThere is a $30.00 fee for all payments returned by the bank or returned e-checks. Payment will be cancelled, and you will be notifi ed of the return. Subsequent payment must include the additional fee along with any appropriate interest and penalty.
PAYING UNDER PROTEST RCW 84.68.020 / WAC 458.18.215If you wish to preserve your right to see a refund in Superior Court, you must at the time you pay the tax, provide the County Treasurer with a separate written statement. 1) State that you are paying the tax under protest and 2) State all of the reasons why you believe the tax paid under protest is unlawful or excessive. The Treasurer’s responsibility is limited to maintaining a fi le of petitions. You must take further action to fi le a claim on your own.
TAX DISTRIBUTION SUMMARY DISCLOSURESome taxing districts in Tax Area Code 150 and 151 will not receive all the monies shown in the Distribution Summary. A TIF created in 2024 gets a portion of their monies.
SALES/PURCHASES OF PROPERTYSales/Purchases of Property that happen during the year will not necessarily cause a new or revised statement to be issued. Current property owners are asked to give your statement to the new owners at the time of closing.

TAX FORECLOSURE WARNINGUnder current Washington State property tax laws, the allowable delinquency period is three years before foreclosure action is taken. Therefore, action to foreclose on DELINQUENT property begins May 1st of each year. Once the Certifi cate of Delinquency is fi led, all taxes, interest, penalties, and foreclosure costs must be paid in full in order to redeem the property.
If you would like help determining opportunities to resolve property tax delinquency and avoid foreclosure, you may contact the Washington State Housing Finance Commission at 1-877-894-HOME (4663) or www.wshfc.orgwww.wshfc.org.
A person qualifying for a reduction of property taxes under the Washington State Senior Citizen or Disability Deferral Program may avoid foreclosure action on their principal place of residence. If you believe you are eligible for this program, please contact the Grant County Assessor’s Offi ce at 509-754-2011 ext. 2672 for information and assistance in applying for the deferral.

PERSONAL PROPERTY / LATE FILING PENALTYWhen personal property is sold or a change of ownership occurs, the following years tax must be paid in advance at the time of sale by the seller. The property assessed will be subject to distraint and sale if taxes become delinquent, pursuant to RCW 84.56.070. The Assessor must receive personal property listing forms for all businesses by April 30th each year. Personal property listing forms that are received after April 30th or not at all are subject to a late fi ling penalty. The penalty is 5% of the tax due, with an additional 5% for each month, but not to exceed 25% per RCW 84.40.130.
MOBILE HOMES & MOVEMENT PERMITSPlease check with the Grant County Treasurer’s Offi ce before buying or selling any mobile home. It is unlawful to remove personal property from the county or dispose of without payment of tax or giving notice to the County Treasurer describing the property to be moved or sold. An additional tax may be due at the time of removal or disposal per RCW 84.56.070. If a mobile home is to be moved, a mobile home movement decal must be obtained by the Treasurer’s Offi ce. PROPERTY TAX PAYMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS SENIOR CITIZENS & DISABLED PERSON EXEMPTIONS & DEFERRAL PROGRAMSYou may qualify for an exemption if you own and live in a home or manufactured home, are age 61 or older or are physically disabled and have an annual income under $46,000. You may qualify for a tax deferral if your income is under $52,064.00. For information on the application process, please contact the Assessor’s Offi ce at (509) 754-2011 ext. 2672.
