RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE GRANT
COUNTY MULTI JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN
UPDATE FOR 2023-2028 AS APPROVED
BY THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA)

WHEREAS,, Section 322 of the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires local
government agencies to develop and submit a natural hazards mitigation plan to receive future
Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Funds; and
WHEREAS,, the County has knowledge and experience that natural and human -caused
hazard events pose threats to lives and cause damages to property within Grant County; and
WHEREAS., staff working with technical experts have used available technologies,
information, and historical documents to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment process
resulting in the preparation of Grant County' s Hazard Mitigation Plan Update; and
WHEREAS the Hazard Mitigation Plan Update formalized the County' s comprehensive
efforts to make the County safer through preventing damage in the built environment; and
WHEREAS; the Hazard Mitigation Plan Update builds on the objectives and actions
established in the 2006 Hazard Mitigation Plan and the County's Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS; the Hazard Mitigation Plan Update has been reviewed by all relevant departments,
boards, committees and the Washington State Department of Emergency Management; and
WHEREAS the Hazard Mitigation Plan Update was presented to the Grant County
Board of County Commissioners and was available for public comment and review for the
required time period; and
WHEREAS, approval of the Hazard Mitigation Plan Update by the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) constitutes formal completion of the plan and establishes eligibility for the
County to pursue Hazard Mitigation funds.
NOW, THEREFORE,, BE IT RESOLVED that the Grant County Board of Commissioners hereby
adopts the Grant County Hazard Mitigation Plan Update in accordance with the Federal Disaster
Mitigation Act of 2000 thereby meeting the eligibility requirements for the potential receipt of Hazard
Mitigation Grant funds.

Hazard Mitigation Plan Update
Promulgation
The 2023 Grant County Hazard Mitigation Plan Update dated November 08, 2023, is hereby adopted
this day of 2023 as the official plan providing hazard mitigation guidance for Grant County. It is
also the official plan providing hazard mitigation guidance for the municipalities and special purpose
districts participating in and adopting the plan. It does not replace the original 2006 Grant County Hazard
Mitigation Plan but continues the process. As part of routine emergency management practice, this plan
will be updated every 5 years. Between plan update cycles, new planning partners may join the plan and
updated data and hazard information may be included.
