The Commissioners held an Open Record Public Hearing to consider an Ordinance adopting an Organic
Materials Management, Compost Use and Procurement into Grant County Code Ch. 8.44.
Sam Castro, Public Works Director, gave a synopsis of the ordinance presented today. HB 1799 was
signed into Washington Law designed to increase the diversion of organic materials going to landfills in
order to reduce methane emissions.
A motion was made by Commissioner Stone, seconded by Commissioner Carter, to close the public
comment portion of the hearing. The motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by
Commissioner Carter to approve the adoption of this ordinance as presented. Commissioner Stone
seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The hearing adjourned.
