In the late spring/early summer of 2023, the submersible pump for well #2 at the fairgr6unds failed to deliver
water and the buffer tank ran dry. The pump had to be reset for no obvious reason but once again began
working within a twenty -four-hour period. However, the pump had developed a significant vibration that still
comes and goes depending on the demand of the pump.
We asked Lad Irrigation to inspect it and they suggested the turbine was probably fouled or broken and
provided a cost of $100,558.42 to pull the pump and replace or repair the entire assembly. This cost was very
high and unplanned. After consulting with the Vendor, it was decided we would keep an eye on it and see if we
could make it to the end of the season, which we have done.
The vibration is still here, and we are concerned about leaving it off over the winter as usual and deferring a
probable issue to next spring. We asked both Lad Irrigation and Irrigators Inc. to provide a price to pull the
pump from its depth of 280', inspect, service, and if needed replace only that which needed to be replaced.
For this work, Lad provided a quote of $36,375.09, and Irrigators Inc. provided a quote of $25,203.00.
With the Board's permission, we will.provide a notice to proceed to Irrigators Inc. to pull the pump and
associated appurtenances to service and inspect the well pump. We will determine what repairs will be
necessary (if any) once the entire assembly is inspected.
Central Services is asking for a budget extension from Current Expense to use excess funds that have been
discussed during our recent budget meetings.
If this is not acceptable we can utilize fairgrounds improvement funds.
Sincerely,
rC&ln &6dnef
