HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - BOCCCOMMISSIONERS' PROCEEDINGS Week of April 30,1990 The Grant County Commissioners session was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Glenn Chamberlain. All of the Commissioners were in attendance with the Clerk of the Board. The Commissioners approved the minutes of the preceeding session. The Commissioners approved the salary of Tina Lambert of the Grant County Emergency Services Department at $15,600 per year effective April 1,1990. The Commissioners approved the salary of Leonard flune of the Grant County Building Department at $20,796 per year effective April 1,1990. Chairman Chamberlain was authorized to sign the Notice of Sep- aration or Work Interruption of Elizabeth Ann Jacobson of the Health Department effective April 30,1990. Chairman Chamberlain was authorized to sign the Notice of Separation or Work Interruption of Socorro Ortega of the Mental Health Department effective April 27,1990. The Commissioners approved the salary of Gordon Harris at $2,282 per month effective April 15,1990 as he was appointed to the position of Sergeant with the Grant County Sheriff Department. The Commisisoners approved the request for the following items from the capitol outlay budget for the Sheriff Department: Badges $67.00 x 13 $ 806.00 Coats $135.00 x 13 1,755.00 Trousers $78.00 x 13 1,014.00 Shirts $67.00 x 13 871.00 TOTAL $4,446.00 The Commissioners received information from the Grant County Cattlemen's Association regarding Bill #6235. The Commissioners accepted the resignation of George Calvert of the Grant County Mosquito Control District #1. The Grant County Commissioners received the resignation of Jay Johnson from the Grant County Board of Adjustment. The Commissioners approved the out of state travel of Tina Lambert of the Grant County Emergency Management Department to attend the con- ference for Emergency Planning. The Commissioners approved the Request for Transfer in the Grant County Health District Budget in the amount of $4,000. The Commissioners approved the use of the Courthouse lawn and parking area for the 1990 Sage 'N Sun Festival June 8,9 and 10. A motion was made by Commissioner Goodwin and seconded by Com- missioner Chandler that Resolution Number 90 -28 -CC honoring Prosecutor Paul Klasen be passed. The motion carried. The Commissioners met with various Elected Officials and Department Heads regarding matters of mutual concern. As there was no further business the session was continued until May 1,1990. May 1,1990 The session was continued at 9:00 a.m. with Commissioner Chandler and Commissioner Chamberlain in attendance with the Clerk of the Board. Commissioner Goodwin was out of the office on business. The Commissioners met with the Public Works Department regarding Bid Authorization -Bridge No. 316, 'F' NW, Silica Road -Financial Commitments, Project Status, Set Hearing -Speed Limit Amendments, Road Name-Westshore Drive, 'S' NE, and/or 'F.5' NE, Adams Road, Noxious Weeds -Seed Screen, 'T' SW South of '1' SW, 10:00 a.m.- Public Hearing(Road Establishment, Tyndall RoadO, 10:30 a.m.-Road Vacation Hearing(cont.), North Frontage Road in George vicinity, 11:00 a.m.-Mr. Sparks, Black Sands Area Roads, RAP -1989/91 Projects Approvals, Personnel. Chairman Chamberlain was authorized to sign the Rural Arterial Program Project Agreement for Construction Proposals on Silica Rd., Sagebrush Flats, 6 S.E. #240, and Long Lake 4116. The Commissioners signed an Authorization to Call for Bids on Prestressed Concrete Girders for CRP 90-3; Bridge #316, F -NW. Bid opening to be May 15,1990 at 10:00 a.m. A motion was made by Commissioner Chandler and seconded by Com- missioner Chamberlain that Resolution Number 90 -29 -CC in the matter of modifying certain sections of Chapter 11.04 of the Grant County Code Entitled "Maximum Speed Limits" be passed. The motion carried. Public Hearing will be held May 29,1990 at 10:30 a.m. A Public Hearing was held and a motion was made by Commisisoner Chandler and seconded by Commissioner Chamberlain that Resolution Number 90 -30 -CC in the matter of establishing a certain county road to be named Tyndall Road be passed. The motion carried. A continuation of a Public Hearing regarding the vacation of certain portions of county road rights of way was held. After input from various persons in the George area and from members of the George City Council a motion was made by Commissioner Chandler and seconded by Commissioner Chamberlain to close the hearing with no decision made at this time as to the question regarding vacating the area in question. It was determined that more time was needed to work with the Town of George and also with others interested in the matter. The motion carried. The Commissioners notified the Auditors Office that Jerry Hamley was appointed to the position of Prosecuting Attorney effective May 1,1990 to replace Paul Klasen who was retiring. As of this date the Board by a majority vote does approve for payment those vouchers included in the list filed in the Auditors Office 4/30/90 in the total amount of $160,579.68. The Commissioners met with Mental Health Director, Sharon Kiehn regarding matters of mutual concern. As there was no further business the session was adjourned until May 7,1990.
