Re: Request Purchasing Sheriff vehicles for 2024
Commissioners:

The last three years have seen many challenges in purchasing vehicles. Some of these have
been long delays, lack of availability, and unknown when vehicles will be available to order.
The suppliers for the Sheriff Patrol vehicles and Ford Super Duty trucks have made us aware
that the Explorer SUV Utilities and Ford Super Duty's will be available to order in the fourth
quarter of 2023. There are two Explorers that were approved for 2023 that will be ordered this
fall and won't be delivered until 2024. There are eight Explorer Utilities and three Super Duties
that have been placed on the 2024 budget.
Public Works is seeking authorization to order the eight Explorers and three Ford Super Duty
cab/chassis that are on the 2024 budget when they become available fourth quarter of 2023.
They will be delivered and invoiced after January 1st, 2024. This will prevent the vehicles from
carrying over into 2025 and incurring excessive mileage and costs.
