The Commissioners held an Open Record Public Hearing to consider an ordinance relating to the
Shoreline Master Program (SMP) Periodic Review required by RCW 90.58.080(4) and codified in the
Unified Development Code Ch. 24.12.
Barbara J. Vasquez, Clerk of the Board, stated that the ordinance proposed today has a scrivener's error
on Page 2, where it states the legal -notice was published in the Grant County Journal. It was not, but in
fact published in the Columbia Basin Herald.
Jim Cook, Assistant Director of Development Services, read into the record many portions of the
Ordinance to be adopted today. The process was overseen by a Coalition and the process went well.
Chris Young, Director of Development Services discussed the grant they received from the Department
of Ecology in the amount of $100,000 to fund this SMP Update. The project cost approximately
$75,000.00.
A motion was made by Commissioner Carter, seconded by Commissioner Stone, to close the public
comment portion of the hearing. The motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by
Commissioner Carter to approve the ordinance as presented. Commissioner Stone seconded and the
motion passed unanimously. The hearing adjourned.
