Re: Request to Proceed, Refurbish Museum School and Church
Dear BOCC,
The Grant County Historical Museum has requested that the Facilities and Maintenance assist in
refurbishing the exteriors of the Church and Schoolhouse buildings as the exteriors,bell steeples
and paint is in poor condition on both buildings. The project was put out to bid to remove loose
lead paint on the church, rebuild the bell steeples on both buildings, replace rotted siding and
encapsulate the church with a lead barrier. Pictures of the buildings are attached so you -can see
the condition of the buildings.
Due to the abatement aspect of this project, two bids were received, one for the lead paint
abatement, disposal and encapsulation and one bid for rebuilding the steeple, replacing siding
and other repairs to wood features on the. buildings.
Asbestos Central provided the only bid for abatement of the church at a price of $25,772.10.
Stan's Construction provided a bid to rebuild the bell steeples, replace rotted siding and other
identified repairs to trim and siding ata price of $56,075.32.
Note: These costs do not include the final coating of the exteriors of these building once the
repairs are completed. Facilities and Maintenance will paint the buildings to reduce the overall
contractor costs for this project.
Therefore, I am asking the Grant County Board of Commissioner's permission to proceed with
this project at a total cost of $81,847.42. This project would be funded from the Museum
Programmed Maintenance Funds 304.001.00.0000.59475600/4 which has a balance of
$219,363.25.
