Re: Unforeseen conditions and costs Rodeo Grounds
Neppel Electric is the contractor installing the new lights around the Rodeo grounds. While
installing the new power required for the lights, numerous safety concerns and electrical code
violations were found. These violations are due to past maintenance practices and the allowance
of local partners to perform work without having it reviewed by the County or permitted through
the proper authority.
Neppel Electric will be required by code to fix these safety and code violations. The cost to do
this work is $30,296.00. Furthermore, a break in the electrical mains feeding the green parking
lot lights has been found. We are unsure how this break occurred, but it also needs to be repaired.
The cost for this repair is $23,349 this will provide a new panel to control these lights and repair
the circuit in two different areas.
In total the costs for these repairs will be $53,645.00. We can utilize funds leftover from
previously completed projects at the fairgrounds totaling $26,871.16 the remaining funds
($26,773.84) will be taken from the 309 -bond fund which will affect funds available for projects
in 2021 but will still be manageable.
I would recommend and ask the Commissioners to approve this work.
