HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 23-040-CCBOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Grant County, Washington AN ORDINANCE AMENDING GRANT ORDINANCE No. 23- -CC COUNTY CODE TITLE 6, CH. 6.08.650 - ESTABLISHING MINIMUM WAKE ON WARDEN LAKE RECITALS: WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioner for Grant County enacted Ordinance No. 99 -093 -CC reenacting regulations for boating and recreational water activities, providing for the safety of boats, swimmers, and others using the waters of Grant County, and providing certain regulations and restrictions on the use of such waters, and other matters properly relating thereto; and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners for Grant County finds that the following amendment would support the public health and safety of Grant County residents, preserve ecological habitats, and promote safe recreation opportunities; and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners for Grant County duly advertised and conducted an open record public hearing to consider this amendment to Title 6 on May 9, 2023. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, the Grant County Board of Commissioners hereby amends Grant County Code Section 6.08 as follows: 6.08.650 —Special regulations to specific lakes in Grant County. (a) Banks Lake. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to operate a vessel at a speed in excess of minimum wake speed in any areas marked with buoys or logs as a speed restricted area. (b) Blue and Park Lake. Water skiing shall be permitted on Blue and Park Lake in a counter- clockwise direction. It shall be unlawful for any person to directly or indirectly be engaged in water skiing on Blue or Park Lake: (1) Commencing with the opening day of fishing season to May 20th; (2) At any place on the lake marked or posted by buoys as being reserved for swimming or limiting the speed of boats to the minimum wake speed; (3) From May 20th to July 1 st, before the hour of ten a.m. and after eight p.m. at any place on Blue Lake or Park Lake. It shall be the policy of Grant County to operate with and conform to the City of Soap Lake in so far as regulations related to the use of Soap Lake. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to operate a power boat: (1) Within two hundred feet of the shoreline of Soap Lake except upon arriving or departing from the shore; (2) Within fifty feet of any red marked buoy or barrier; (3) Between the hours of dusk and eight a.m. in excess of minimum wake speed. (d) Moses Lake. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to tie or cause to be attached, a vessel to any bridge on Moses Lake, or to be anchored in or near a channel beneath a bridge. (e) Lenore Lake. It shall be unlawful for any person to use alcohol or petroleum powered motor attached to a vessel on Lenore Lake, except as authorized by a written permit issued by the sheriff of Grant County. (f) Crescent Bar Marine. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to operate a vessel at a speed in excess of minimum wake speed in any area marked by buoys or flags as a speed restricted area. (g) Deep Lake. (1) It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to operate a vessel at a speed in excess of five mph minimum wake on Deep Lake. (2) It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to operate a personal watercraft or to engage in water skiing, or operate a vessel towing a person on person on, but not limited to, any skis, surfboard, aquaplane, kneeboard, tube, or any other similar device, on Deep Lake. (h) Desert Aire Marina—No wake zone. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to operate a vessel at a speed in excess of minimum wake speed within a three hundred feet radius of the Desert Aire Marina. \ (i) Warden Lake. (1) It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to operate a vessel at a speed in excess of five mph minimum wake on Warden Lake. (2) It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to operate a personal watercraft or to engage in water skiing, or to operate a vessel towing a person on, but not limited to, my skis, surfboard, aquaplane, kneeboard, tube, or any other similar device, on Warden Lake.
