RE: completion of fairgrounds paving projects
Central Services embarked upon a very aggressive capital schedule for fiscal year 2020. While many of
the projects were completed many were also impacted by the COVID pandemic and caused changes in
the way that we would approach much of the work.
Some of the work went above the original budgets and were more expansive than originally intended We
needed to utilize funds from projects not deemed as high a priority as the ones that we concentrated on.
One of these projects concerned a capital approved project listed as "Various Asphalt Projects"
Originally intended for Barn 46 there was a need to include other areas for both new pavement and repairs
of old pavement. The areas included; Barn 46, the new ADA path in Center Field, paving the Purple gate
entrance, repairs to the ADA path behind the Ardell arena, repairs to pavement removed in other areas of
the ADA path transiting from the Green gate to the Ardell arena.
The original budget was $50,000 but we exceeded that amount in repairing other areas and completing the
ADA patch in center field. Once again Central Services utilized funds from other projects that were
under budget instead of asking for a budget extension. This letter memorializes the funds and their
utilization.
