Re: Request for Board of Equalization Exception to Travel Policy for Meal Allowances
The Grant County Board of Equalization (BOE), recently held their annual meetings and
scheduled all hearings for the 2019/2020 Appeal Sessions. During these meetings, the BOE
discussed the impact of COVID-19 on BOE hearings. It was determined that due to the delay
caused by COVID-19 all hearings will be scheduled as promptly as possible due to the new
Change of Value Notices anticipated being issued by the Assessor's Office.
The impact of this is the BOE will have 8 hearings days in September and at least 4 hearing days
in October. In a normal year, the BOE would have 2 or less hearing days in a month.
The BOE is requesting an exception to the Grant County Personnel Policy - Travel Authorization
& Expense Reimbursement, Policy 1202.8.2 regarding meal allowances, allowing them to be
reimbursed for each hearing day and NOT be considered a "Fringe Benefit".
Hearings dates are September 2, 10, 11, 17, 18, 23, 24, 30 and October 1, 7, 8, and 22. More
hearings may be scheduled as required.
