This vehicle will be delivered and invoiced in 2020 and is not part of the 2020 Equipment Expense
Program.

Kent Covdenko with the Okanogan County Landfill currently uses the same MADVAC unit as we
requested. Kent says in the 19 months they have had their MADVAC, they have saved an estimated 30
to 40 percent of time to clear litter using it. They ordered their machine with 100 bags and still have 75
after 19 months of use. The bags are partly reusable meaning they are like a shop vat bag. You can reuse
them until they rip. The bags we use now for picking up litter are 63 cents each.
Our staff spends an average of 2 to 3 hours per day picking up litter. Keep in mind that this is just an
average. During strong wind events in the spring and fall, they are picking up litter every chance we can
get and can take weeks to get caught up. This is where it will be most beneficial to us. The litter
continues to pile up on the fence line and once all the holes in the fences are blocked, the wind can no
longer blow through and carries garbage over the fences. We would utilize work release during these
events but that is no longer.
