Good morning,
Deputy Carlos Avila is currently attending the Basic Law Enforcement Academy in
Burien, Washington, and Correction Deputy Michael Yashchuk is scheduled to
attend the state mandated Correction Officer Academy (Burien) starting July 9, one
week from today.
The Criminal Justice Training Commission has taken extraordinary steps to
minimize recruit and training staff exposure to COVID 19.
I am asking that the Board of County Commissioners waive the suspension to allow
Deputy Avila to continue, and Correction Deputy Yashchuk's attendance at the
mandatory on-site portions of his scheduled academy attendance.
