Dear Commissioners,
I am requesting authorization to surplus two of our older Sea Doo GTI personal
watercraft, and an EZ -Loader two place trailer to the Soap Lake Police Department. In
exchange, the Soap Lake Police Department will provide needed equipment for two of
our new patrol vehicles and patrol boat, similar in value. The equipment we would
receive comprises of emergency lights and a mobile radio. WA RCW 39.33.010 allows
for the surplus of property to other governmental agencies and municipalities, such as
this request.
The two Sea Doo watercraft were purchased in 2014 for the Wanapum Dam repair
project and have been utilized for marine patrol since. Both have surpassed 400 hrs of
run time and are needing replaced. They show significant wear and will need repairs
soon. Our plan is to utilize Vessel Registration Funds (VRF) to purchase two new
watercraft in the future. The estimated combined value of both units is $6,000.00, plus
a value of approximately $800.00 for the trailer (fair market value). See copies of titles
attached.
