3) Courts : COVID-19 Operation
i. OFFENDER/ DIVERSION: All non -emergency civil matters and out of custody cases criminal matters be
continued after June 1st, 2020. New arraignment hearings have been held via WebEx since March
30th, 2020. Juvenile Department is offering WebEx to parents that don't have the technology to connect
to the hearing. Diversion hearings are being held telephonically. Beginning June 15Y, 2020 we will have
normal size dockets via WebEx. We will only have in person court hearing for Dispositions.
ii. TRUANCY: All of the truancy matters have been dismissed for this school year.
iii. DEPENDENCY: The dependency unit is also doing regular dockets hearings via WebEx.
Martin Hall: We had 3 instances in April that Martin Hall Transport was longer than 3 hours. We sent this information
to Management and since then we have had no issues with transportation or communication in May.
Administration:
o Martin Hall Board Meeting will be held on Thursday May 28th, 2020 via Zoom. I will be
attending to that meeting.
Needs of the Department
• Building- Working with Facilities/Maintenance to:
o Table and conference chairs. Done
o Moving legal secretaries' desk and putting partitions to have social distancing.
o Put sneeze guard in the court room to protect judge, clerk and defense attorney.
