The Grant County fairgrounds received a Washington State Department of Commerce grant in the amount
of $281,300.00. This grant is a direct appropriation and does not require any matching funds.
What it does require is a statement from the County showing that we have the same amount identified to
pay for the project in the full amount of the grant.
The fairgrounds received budgetary amounts from two companies showing our total costs for lighting in
two areas,
• The Rodeo Arena, $280,000.00 - $320,000.00
• The South field area $180,000.00 - $200,000.00
Totaling between $460,000.00 & $520,000.00. The priority would be the Rodeo area and we could hope
to get a second grant next year.
The fairgrounds was approved in this year's capital budget for $175,000.00 from R.E.E.T. Central
Services is requesting a budget extension from R.E.E.T funds in the amount of $106,300.00 to make up
the difference between the amount approved this year and the total amount of the grant. These funds will
be reimbursed as we expend the money and submit a payment request to the Department of Commerce.
If for some reason the bids for the work come in above the total grant amount, we would either
appropriate the funds from other areas where we have either saved or not spent R.E.E.T funds or we
would need to decline the bid.
Therefore, Central Services is requesting a budget extension from R.E.E.T in the amount of $106,300.00
to match the grant awarded by the Department of Commerce in the amount of $281,300.00 l

Central Services had requested a budget extension for the lighting project at the fairgrounds but
due to miss understandings about the scope, requirements and limitations of the grant. We are
withdrawing this request as we figure out how to perform this project.
Central Services and the fairgrounds are currently looking to move already approved capital
funds to the lighting project to meet the requirements of the grant. This request will come at a
later date.
