I'm seeking approval to reimburse the New Hope and Kids Hope staff for a portion of their
internet costs while working remotely.
I've pre-emptively requested approval from the funders of our programs and received their
approval with this guidance:
Expenses that are necessary for staff to provide contracted services are eligible expenses; this
can include expenses related to working remotely. For internet costs at a staff person's home,
please be sure to only request reimbursement for the allocable portion of the cost that is
necessary for providing contracted services (and not the portion that is for the employee's
personal use). Any expenses should be pro -rated among any funding sources to which they
apply.
Here are some examples of allowable expenses:
the cost of a hot spot device, or the cost to add internet or upgrade internet speeds for
remote work that resulted in additional expense over and above their normal home
internet costs,
a reasonable flat fee being paid by New Hope to staff who are working from home to
help cover a portion of home internet costs necessary for delivering contracted services.
I would like to request your approval to pay a reasonable flat rate of $30 per month for March,
April and May to cover internet costs of staff working remotely.
