Courts: COVID-19 Operation i. OFFENDER/ DIVERSION: All non -emergency civil matters and out of custody criminal matters be continued after May 11t1, 2020. New arraignment hearings have been held via WebEx since March 30th, 2020. Juvenile Department is offering WebEx to parents that don't have the technology to connect to the hearing. Diversion hearings are being held telephonically. ii. TRUANCY: All Truancy warrants have been quashed and all of the truancy contempts have been dismissed for this school year. Letters were sent to Parents and Students on April 17, 2020. iii. DEPENDENCY: The dependency unit has been filing cases with the court as the Judges have been reviewing and deciding what defines an emergency. Judges are only hearing emergency cases until the mandate is lifted. Martin Hall: No issues with transportation or communication. On Saturday April 18, 2020 we had to send a new intake to the hospital to get medical clearance regarding COVID-19 symptoms. Martin Hall was able to work with us and took the intake. 4 days later, we found out the result for that juvenile was negative, but Martin Hall was able to take the necessary precautions and put the Juvenile in isolation, until we found out the results. Administration: o Martin Hall Board Meeting was held on Thursday April 23rd, 2020 via Zoom. The meeting was really short and talked about finances and low detention population. Needs of the Department • Association Contract Mediation Session 4 was scheduled for April 3, 2020. The contracts were still not in agreement as we continue working on language and paperwork. The next Mediation is scheduled for May 12 and May 13. • Building - Working with Facilities/Maintenance to: o Asphalt project April 15—April 23rd. Done o Table and conference chairs.
