There is a small canal (CCL Extension) that borders your Public Works facility at Royal, on the northerly
side. We believe it is leaking and has been leaking for years, causing some wet areas. The Port has land
that also borders this canal and we've noticed that the leakage has spread to the rail spur that goes west
from Road E SW.
I've included pictures of the healthy Russian Olive trees along the CCL Extension and north of your
facility along with showing some wet areas. You also recently acquired an additional 5 acres adjacent to
your facility that this leaky canal also affects.
We met with John Mele from QCBID on site and asked him if this canal could be piped or lined. John
said they have a "cost share" program where the customer buys the liner and the QCBID puts it in.
Unfortunately, the price of $53,410.50 is too much for us to bear. Please see enclosed price quote from
QCBID.
Would you be interested in splitting this cost with the Port? We feel it would be beneficial to the Port as
well as the County.
If you have any other ideas on how to deal with this leaky canal please let me know.
