Re: Recommendation of award for HVLS fan purchase
Central Services performed a formal bid process for the purchase of high velocity low speed fans
for the Ardell and Harwood arenas. We also asked for proposals for fans in horse barns 44/45.
The bid was structured so that the award of the bid would be based on the fans for the arenas
only and for price per fan with the County reserving the right to increase or decrease the number
of fans due to the differences in technology built into different fan manufacturers.
We maintained a base number of fans and a base technology package and all responders agreed it
was an "apples to apples" bid process. There are no protests.
We received bids from 3 of 6 manufacturers,
Big Ass Fans $32,676 Go Fan Yourself $34,895 Rite -Hite Fans $29,722
Rite -Hite (sold out of Spokane WA) was the low responsive bidder for this project and is
recommended by the Director for award.
The project was approved in the budget under the capital code 126.168.00.9112.594736210
For a total of $66,000. Central Services will use remaining funds for the electrical installation
and labor required for the installation of the fans. We may also purchase a proposed fan for horse
barns 44/45 for $4,500 fans from BAF
Central Services asks the Boards approval for this purchase.
