Re: Award Purchase of Cooling Tower Supply Pump
It was noticed last year that the cooling tower supply pump for the Law and Justice Center was
making noise that indicates a mechanical issue. As this pump is a critical component to provide
cooling for the Law and Justice HVAC system, the pump was disassembled as part of a
preventative maintenance work order to investigate the noise. The pump was found to have
excessive wear on the impeller.
Requests for pricing on replacement parts for the pump revealed that is was an obsolete model
and parts are no longer available to rebuild it. Replacement pump quotes were requested.
Columbia Hydronics Company provided the lowest quote for a replacement pump and reducing
flange, $2639.46. The quoted cost does not include tax.
The cost of the replacement pump and reducing flange for this project, if approved, will go to
account 126.168.00.9112.594736210, Cooling Tower LJB. Installation of the new pump is
estimated to be completed by April I'', 2020.
Therefore, I am recommending to the Board and asking for your approval to award the purchase
of the replacement pump to Columbia Hydronics Company for the amount of $2639.46.
