I am requesting your authorization for Out of State Travel for Deputy David DeLaRosa to
attend Canine Liability 360 Training, in Hayden, Idaho, March 24-25, 2020. Deputy
DeLaRosa will depart on March 23rd and return March 251, 2020.
The 2 -day training serves as an essential phase for both K9 handler and K9 Supervisors to
assist in managing the K9 program and preparing for their potential "legal defense" to
prevail in the event of a lawsuit by examining TAC Team's "360 Degrees of Responsibility"
Involving a single purpose patrol or cross -trained police service dog.
The course topics will include:
- Reasons We Get in Trouble
- Policy & Operational Manuals
- Case Law and Control
- Selection and Retention
- Testing and Training
- Report writing
- The Court of Public Opinion
- Deployments / Debriefs
- Deposition & Trial Testimony
- Use of Force
- Off -Duty care & compensation
- Documentation
This training is taught by Sergeant Bill Lewis II, 40 year veteran of law enforcement and
instructor experience.
