Excerpts from HWC Bylaws
Member Selection Process:
Voting Members and Alternate Members are recommended by the
employees they represent. This is accomplished in the following
manner:
a) The represented group shall solicit interest from its
members.
b) The represented group shall hold a formal vote, if necessary.
C) The represented group shall notify the HWC Chairperson of
their recommendation in writing.
d) The Chairperson shall notify the BOCC of the group's
recommendation.
e) The BOCC shall issue a written response approving or
denying the recommendation.
If the group is not able to recommend a representative, the Department
Head or Elected Official for the group may recommend a participant.
Advisory Members: Advisory Members will provide technical
assistance, information and feedback on Committee recommendations.
At a minimum, the Human Resources Department and the Auditor's
Office shall provide advisory members. Other advisors are appointed by
the BOCC or selected by vote of the HWC. Advisory Members are non-
voting.
Labor Representation: There shall be one member representing each
individual labor organization.
Replacements: The HWC may request a replacement of any Voting
Member absent for two consecutive or three annual Regularly
Scheduled meetings.
Resignations: Voting members may resign by submitting written
notice to the HWC Chairperson and the BOCC. Resignation of
Alternate Members shall be handled by the represented department or
labor organization internally.
