Board of County Commissioners Grant County, Washington Approve i v Abstain Dist #I Dist # 1 Dist # 1 Dist #2 Dist # 2 Dist # 2 Dist #3 Dist # 3 Dist # 3 Re: Authority to transfer budget, transactions and cash balances and close fund Dear Board of County Commissioners: Recent inquiries to the Washington State Auditors' Office (SAO) and the Municipal Research and Services Center (MRSC) have revealed that it is not an SAO or GASB requirement to maintain a separate fund for Technology Repair and Replacement (Quadrennial Fund) purposes. Rather, GASB and the SAO recommend that entities should have only as many funds as are needed to maintain required and necessary separation of activities. As such, the Auditor's Office respectfully requests approval to consolidate the Quadrennial Fund (502) into the Technology Services Fund (501). The Quadrennial activities will be tracked through the use of a separate project within the Technology Services Fund. The 2019 approved budgeted amounts and all 2019 actual revenues and expenses will be moved to the new project and accounts created within the Technology Services Fund. Once all transactions have been accounted for and final cash balances calculated, cash will be transferred to the Technology Services Fund (50 1) and the Quadrennial Fund (502) closed. Thank you for your time and consideration of this request. Sincerely, Aa6&L3(— ?At ktcc-.,:- Madeline J. Prentice Chief Accountant Grant County P.O.
