RE: New microphone array for the BOCC hearing room
Central Services has tried several microphone options and system enhancements to make the
recordings of public meetings more manageable for the clerks that must transcribe them however,
we cannot make people speak up and we can't make everyone wear wireless microphones which
would be problematic in its own right.
I have endeavored to find the best conference room microphone I could find and have been
provided a quote by System Solutions NW (Our current vendor for the BiAmp system and
current microphones) for a "Shure" steerable ceiling array. I have tried to find other pricing but
the microphone is only sold through certified vendors and ours in this case is System Solutions
NW.
The cost of the Microphone array is $6,684.42 which includes the microphone itself at $4,408.00
the tertiary equipment, installation, and tuning of the system. I do not know of a better
microphone than this that is rated higher for the purpose of recording conference rooms as a
whole.
Central Services would like to formally ask the board to approve a budget extension for the cost
of this array.
