This bid was for the newly paved surface supporting five 16 -stall horse barns. Two of these barns are new and will be constructed this year, and three are existing and were scheduled to be moved this year in another approved project. Due to the cost of the paving and setup of the new surface, we needed to delay the move of the existing three nobles and use funding from that project to complete the paving project that p p gproJ supported it. The BOCC approved this, leaving $74,963.32 to move the three barns. After the removal of surface grub (weeds and grasses), the soil composition is such that the original 3" subgrade added to support the paved surface will not be enough. We assumed the tailings from road projects at the fairgrounds would suffice, but it will not, causing us to require a total of 6" of crushed rock (3" more than was bid) After meeting with the Contractor, I agree this extra 3" is needed. The cost to add this is $17,130. We would continue to utilize the funds from the existing barn relocation ($74,963.32), bringing that total down to $57,833.32. I intended to rebid that project to see if the leftover amount would be enough to move the three stalls, but it will not. We would push the relocation of three barns to next year and ask for funding in the next budget. It should be noted that the inclusion of this change order will bring the project's total cost up to $76,640.00, still $5,592.00 below the next lowest bidder on the original project. I did not receive a verbal authorization and the cost for remobilization of the Contractor is $1000,00 bringing the total to $18,130.00 (Cox &a-lncf Tom Gaines Director, Grant County WA Central Services Department Tom Gaines Director of Central Services tgaines@grantcountywa.gov APPROVE APR z ). 2023 CONSENT.
