10:37 a.m. Ed Schempp came to discuss an article that was published in the Columbia Basin
Herald and the new state law passed by Governor Inslee for Sanctuary States and how
Prosecuting Attorneys and Sheriffs could not turn in undocumented people to the Federal
Goverment. Commissioner Stevens stated that the article mentions dates in January and
February but the State Bill wasn't signed into law until April. Before April, it wasn't against the
law to assist ICE. Commissioner Stevens also stated that court dockets are public record and
anyone can call and request a copy.
Grant County cannot stop the Federal Goverment from entering the courthouse.
