As has been discussed with the Board, The Peter Built dump truck, a critically important piece of
equipment for Fairgrounds Operations experienced a catastrophic failure of the transmission.
This issue was discussed with the Board while the events were ongoing and the vehicle was
towed to Western Peterbuilt for a proper assessment and quote for repairs. The repairs were
authorized by the Board as it was understood how important this piece of equipment was to the
fairgrounds. The Fairgrounds sincerely appreciates your support.
The repair has been completed and the total cost was $12,320.15. There is no maintenance fund
associated with the Fairgrounds that could cover this expense. Not without violating RCW
36.40.130. The cost of the repair was paid from the Facilities & Maintenance budget however, a
budget extension will be required to recoup these costs through the budget amendment process.
This letter is the formal request for the budget amendment and asks for the Board of County
Commissioners approval of the amendment. This amendment would seek to appropriate the cost,-------"\
