A few weeks ago, we held a focus group call with Clerks of the Board/Council from around the State. On that call, we discussed our I Heart Counties campaign and have since then been briefing members on our Legislative Steering Committee (LSC) on our progress. Here is what we have planned: 1. We are encouraging all counties to declare it National County Government by using the attached sample proclamation. 2. I Heart Counties socks — We have ordered custom dress socks for each county and will be sending a National County Government toolkit to your office the week of April 1 which will include socks, WSAC swag, handouts and more. Yes, we will be including a pair of socks for you as well 3. Once the socks have been distributed, we want your county to show off their pride! We are asking that you encourage your county commission or council to wear their socks and take a group photo that can then be uploaded to your county social media platforms. We will be providing more details next week on how best to maximize social media including suggested text and hashtags. If your county does not have social media, don't worry, you'll be able to send us your photos, and we will post on our platforms. 4. If your commissioners our councilmembers have any public engagements in April, we want to know about it. Any photos that can be taken and shared with WSAC are appreciated. If your commissioner or councilmember would like additional materials or handouts to bring to their event, we are here to help. 5. If your county has anything planned to celebrate National County Government Month, be sure to let us know so we can promote the incredible work you are doing. More information will be coming your way soon, but if you have any immediate questions, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
