BACKGROUND:
This request is for our investigator to attend the National Defense Investigator Association
Conference in San Diego next month. The Grant County Department of Public Defense employs one full
time staff investigator, Ellyn Berg. Ms. Berg acts as a supervisor of contract investigators and serves as a
consultant to the Director of Public Defense with regard to most things investigation related.
BUDGET:
The DPD has budget items for seminars, schools and workshops; and a travel expense line item.
The 2019 budget anticipated significant training needs for the year. The budget is able to accommodate
this request.
REQUEST:
Pursuant to county policy 1202.3.4, this memo is to request out of state travel for this program.
The request is as follows:
• Participant: Ellyn Burg—Staff investigator.
• 4 day conference of the National Defense Investigator Association, $285;
• Travel to San Diego, California for the conference scheduled April 22-24, 2019, About $500;
• Hotel costs in San Diego, about $800;
• Other expenses, per diem, taxi, bus, etc. 4 nights.
Please approve this out of state travel request for investigator Ellyn Berg. As always, be sure to
