Re: Capital Asset report required by State Law, Year Ended 2018
Attached is the above referenced report prepared by the Accounting Department of the Auditor's
Office. The total dollar amount of Capital Assets is $8,952,292.71. The capital asset information
for the Public Works Department is prepared by Loc Ohl, PW Accountant.
Please note that there are a number of assets that have been identified from various departments
that did not either get removed or added to the 2018 inventory because we did not receive their
2018 inventory list on time to make those changes.

Annual Report of Columbia Basin Dispute Resolution Center

We at the Columbia Basin Dispute Resolution Center would like to thank the Grant
County Commissioners for their continued support. With your support we have
had a successful year having 69 parties contact us to schedule mediations. Out of
those 69 contacts we reached settlements in 73.9% of the cases. Resulting in a
savings to Grant County of $285,000. 2018 was a year where we saw fewer court
cases needing mediations. Although the second half of 2018 brought more
mediations per month than we have ever handled since the Columbia Basin
Dispute Resolution Center started in 2007. Following the trend of the second half
of 2018, 2019 has started out strong and looks to be another year we will be able
to save Grant County additional funds.
In 2018 the CBDRC served 416 adults with our services. Through mediations
involving Family Law we assisted 272 children to have stability through a
parenting plan that their parents reached agreement on and are more likely to
abide by these plans. Thus, saving the court additional funds that don't show up
through accounting practices. We accomplished this with our staff putting in only
1040 hours or .5 FTE's. Our very generous volunteers put in 916 hours of service
in addition to the staff.
With all this work and aid from Grant County the CBDRC was able to show a profit
of $ 7,345.65. Which allowed us to add a little buffer in our bank account to help
us through the lean years. If we can maintain this trend, we hope in the future to
increase the programs that we provide. We have already started working with the
Schools with their Restorative Justice Programs by providing the training for that
program. There is also the Juvenile Justice system that we would like to work with
especially with truancy and helping those in the system to reenter the school and
not become repeat offenders. We are also working with the Business Community
to develop a program to help with work place disputes.
Again, we would like to thank the Grant County Commissioners for all your support
throughout the years making all our progress possible.
