Re: Declaration of Emergency — Quincy Shop Fire
Serial No. 19-010
During the overnight hours between January 91h and January 10th there was a fire in the Road
District 3, Quincy Shop, destroying a mower tractor and causing extensive fire/smoke damage to
the entire structure.
On the morning of January 10th GCPW staff met with Steve Whetstone from Clear Risk
Solutions. During that meeting, the corrosive nature of the smoke and particulate matter created
during the fire was discussed along with the need to move as swiftly as possible to clean the
structure along with any salvageable equipment/tools preventing further damage.
Due to the need to expedite the remediation of fire/smoke damage preventing further damage to
this facility we request a Declaration of Emergency to allow the waiver of competitive bidding
requirements per RCW 39.04.280 and hire a contractor to complete the remediation of
fire/smoke damage to the facility.
