WHEREAS, New Hope is committed to drawing attention to the prevalence of sexual
assault and educate individuals and communities about how to prevent it; and
WHEREAS, Sexual harassment abuse and assault are widespread problems; and
WHEREAS., In the United States nearly one in five women and one in 67 men have
been sexually assaulted in their lives; and
WHEREAS!, In the United States one in 10 children have been sexually abused before
the age of 18; and
WHEREAS, In 2020, New Hope provided 305 intakes to new sexual assault survivors
and services to 446 sexual assault survivors; and
WHEREAS, New Hope promotes healthy services for survivors of sexual assault; and
WHEREAS, New Hope encourages every community in Grant County to help eliminate
sexual violence by working together to promote social change.
NOW THEREFORE, THE GRANT COUNTY BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS do hereby proclaim April 2021 as Sexual Assault Awareness
Month in Grant County, and urge all individuals and communities to join us in this special
observance.
