The Livestock Committee for Fair has long talked about changing the way animals load in and
out for Fair. It has been cumbersome in the past due to inadequate chutes, different types of
vehicles delivering animals and finally loading animals to go to market. It also, in my opinion,
n I ion,
has been a safety 'issue whereby an animal could be injured, or even worse, a youth or parent.
We discussed several options and have implemented most of what they requested. This has
been discussed for the better part of the Clast 10 years according to the committee, As
you
know, I am not a person who waits for someone else to fix things.
I solicited bids from -5 local construction firms that we have either used in the past or are on our
small works vendor roster. 1 only received one bid. The bid does have to prevailing wages and
lumber prices have increased dramatically, But a project we really need t
rn 01 y n o pursue or
someone could potentially get hurt.
I have attached the bid and drawings for the chute.
The Fairgrounds has money left, over from the purchase of horse stalls for Barns 46 and 47. This
'Item would be well under the amount of money left which is approximately $100,000.
I am requesting authorization to award the bid to Stan's Construction in the amount of
$10,.682o59*
