Central Services is requesting the permission of the Board to travel to Jacksonville Florida, June
14-17 (approximately) to visit and see the operations of jails and facilities that closely resemble
the jail we are planning for the County.
The expected costs of our new facility could be as much as 50 million dollars and the
opportunity to see a facility prior to construction so that we can have and manage expectations is
an important facet as we develop the project,
The expectation is that a single Commissioner, The Sheriff, the Undersheriff, Joe Kriete, Kevin
Schmidt, and I would be traveling. We will utilize funds from our respective travel budgets to
fund the site visits.
