Evenson (Rep. for Weed Districts on Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board) Attention: Landowners in Intercounty Weed District 51 Weed District 51 has been inactive for a number of years due to of the untimely deaths of a Board Member and Coordinator. The resignation of one of the Board Members left your Board of Directors unable to conduct business. It requires at least two (2) Directors to form a quorum to conduct business. Do you want to stay a Weed District or dissolve your District and become part of the Grant and Adams County Noxious Weed Control Programs? A noxious weed control program is needed either way. If you want to remain a weed district, three (3) volunteers Board Members are needed. Board Members need to be landowners in Weed District 51, and live in the District and outside of the city limits. A Weed District is for agricultural lands within the District only. A Board member oversees the business and employees of the District. There are reports that are completed by the Weed District Coordinator and reviewed by the Board Members to be in compliance with the State Auditors Office. The reports are serious because you are handling and using Public Funds. Every penny needs to be accounted for. If you want to stay a Weed District and you would like to volunteer to be a Board Member, please send your contact information to the address below. I will present the names to the Grant County Board of Commissioners and they will then appoint three (3) Board Members for Intercounty Weed District 51. Weed District 51 can then be back in business. The terms for the newly appointed board members will be 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years. After which, each year one new board member or current board member will be elected for a 3 -year term by the district landowners.
