Noting a letter recommendation from the Solid Waste Advisory Committee for the closure of the Matta-wa
Drop Box and conveyed to the Board of County Commissioners Serial No. 22-099 dated October 12,
2022.
It is the recommendation of this Grant County Public Works department that the Mattawa Drop Box be
closed effective May 15�, 2023.

Ad the IVAC meeting held on October 6, the SolidWasteAdvisory Committee made a motion
Ito reconunend the closure of the Mattawa Drop Box by March 1. The aroup discussed the
folloNving issues: fmancial concerns. substandard workg conditions
vandalism. a . . safety concems.,
aging equipment, and difficulty recruiting Part-time en�pioyees.
After careful consideration, tIIP SWAC voted 4 to 2 with one abstaining to recommend the
closure of the drop box by March 3 1. Althou-cr
,gh, the majority of SWAG members believe that
the slite, should be closed, they have sympathy for the Matta-%Nia community.
