Re: New Eviction Prevention Rent Assistance Program
HB1277 created a new state funded eviction prevention rent assistance program.
Commerce has made these funds, $812,281.00, available to us through the CHG grant,
contingent upon approval of our application. Based on the following, I . am
recommending we award these funds to the Housing Authority of Grant County:
1) HA is already familiar with CHG guidelines
2) HA is familiar with rent assistance programs
3) HA has established networks for immediate outreach as required by guidelines
4) By & For agency (when established) already working with HA
5) Funds can be added to existing CHG contract by amendment
6) HA has proven their ability to effectively administer the CHG grant
I am requesting approval of the Housing Authority of Grant County as the subrecipient
of the funding for the HB 1277 eviction prevention rent assistance program for this first
round of funds.
