RE: Mattawa Drop Box Recommendation
Dear Grant County Board of County Commissioners:

At the SWAC meeting held on October 6, the Solid Waste Advisory Committee made a motion
to recommend the closure of the Mattawa Drop Box by March .3 1. The group discussed the
following issues: financial concerns, substandard working conditions, safety concerns,
vandalism, aging equipment, and difficulty recruiting part-time employees.
After careful consideration, the SWAC voted 4 to 2 with one abstaining to recommend the
closure of the drop box by March 31. Although, the majority of SWAG members believe that
the site should be closed, they have sympathy for the Mattawa. community.
