The Veteran Services Department, with the recommendation from the Veterans Advisory Board,
is requesting to purchase food gift cards from Safeway/Albertsons to be distributed at the Annual
Veterans Stand Down and Resource Fair. Veteran Services is requesting to purchase and
distribute to each Veteran that registers at the Fair a $25.00 Food Gift Card. The intent is to
purchase up to 400 gift cards with a total value of up to $10,000.00.
Theses gift cards can only be used for food and or personal use items and will be issued only to
Veterans that complete the requirements of attending. Unused cards will be stored in the County
Commissioners officer, under inventory, and distributed to Veterans with emergent needs as
necessary.
Additionally, Safeway/Albertsons is reviewing our potential application for purchasing bulk gift
cards and may provide a discounted price once application is approved.
Funding for this purchase will come out of the Veterans Assistance Fund,
104.146.00.1104.565204900. Due to low usage in other budget line items, the Veterans
Assistance Fund will not need to file a budget extension for this purchase.
