In the 2022 County Capital plan the condenser for Air Handler 5 was approved to be replaced as
it is problematic and at end of life. When the system was reviewed with a HVAC technician, he
pointed out that because of the age of the system it would be advised that the air handler and
controls be updated as well. The controls are pneumatically controlled and the coil in the air
handler would not be compatible with the new refrigerants that have to be used as EPA
regulation demands.
Requests for bids was published to MRSC roster members and one contractor submitted a bid
for the project to install a new condenser, air handler and controls, Basin Refrigeration and
Heating Inc. Their bid was for $16,260.00, tax included.
Therefore, I am asking the Grant County Board of Commissioners for approval to proceed with
this project. The cost for the project would be paid from the Facilities and Maintenance Capital
REET 1 project YS Replace Condensing Unit, account code 126.168.00.9112.594186210 which
is budgeted for $7000. The remaining cost of this project, $9260.00, would come from the
Facilities and Maintenance Repairs budget 001.112.00.0000.5183 04800 which as of May 27,
2022, has a balance of $77.719.19.
