Dear Janis:
In regard to the awarded ARPA grant, GCFD#13 is in need of a quick response aid vehicle.
The proposed quick response aid vehicle will be more cost effective to operate than a structure engine,
will be better equipped for EMS responses and will hold up to the rough terrain that we are sometimes
tasked to respond to. The quick response aid vehicle would be more dependable, built for these types of
responses, and could be driven by all the volunteers in the department. It truly is a need in our department.
Our vision of a quick response aid vehicle would be a3/4 ton, 4 -wheel drive, long box pick up, with
canopy and pull-out tray, to carry all the necessary supplies and tools. To meet state requirements as an
Aid Vehicle it is required to be equipped with emergency lighting and all the necessary emergency
medical equipment needed for our EMS responses. The equipment includes a trauma bag, airway kit,
suction unit, AED, IV bag, misc. splints and c -collars, 02 monitor, hot and cold packs, blood sugar kit,
back boards and stokes basket with big wheel kit. Dry chemical extinguisher and some minor fire
extinguishing equipment as required.
Estimated cost of this project is:
Truck: $82,000 including taxes, title, license
Canopy $5000
Striping and lettering $3750

Extendobed, emergency lighting package and interior controls including installation; $27,138
Total estimated cost of the quick response aid vehicle project: $117,888 not including the EMS-AED
equipment which should be covered by a separate grant that was applied for.
It is our request that this proposed expenditure is approved by ARPA grant administrator ASAP so we can
move forward with acquisition of the vehicle and start construction.
