SUBJECT: OUT OF STATE TRAVEL REQU EST— NATIONAL CRIMINAL DEFENSE COLLEGE,
TRIAL PRACTICE INSTITUTE

The DPD has been notified justthi morning that one of our attorneys,. Jordan Hamberg has
been accepted to the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute. See attached email.
Jordan is accepted to the program starting June 12, So, time is of the essence.

The program 'is two weeks long and 'Includes anint ensive training program. It 'Includes actual
trial situations and hands on litigation experiences. Itis the premier trial program for criminal defense
lawyers,
The program is at Roger Williams Univ ersityire Bristol, Rhode Island. Airfare is anticipated to be

$1,000 to morning. $1,500 based upon a quick search this morn. Tuition for the program is $2,500,
accommodationis $900. Per diems and ancillary expenses may include some expenses for
transportation and some meals. I understand two dinners and breakfast each dayis provided.

BUDGET.
The DPD has budget items for seminars, schools and workshops,, and a travel expense line item.
These budgets appear to be able to handl e the costs of the training within the planned 2022 budget.
We have planned and budgeted for this training and as well have deferred training during the covid
period.
REQUEST.
Pursuant to county policy 1202.5.4 this memois to request out of state travel for this program.

Practice Institute in Bristol, Rhode Island June 12-2511, 2022.
