The City has been working diligent) to address t - • Y he ever-growing homelessness situation in Grant County and has recognized the need for enhanced services and for the homeless population. In December 2020, the Cit began operating era ' g p ting the Sleep Center, which gives the homeless community a place to sleepat night in • g a secure and stable environment. This facilit also provides mental health and substance use c y counseling services, affordable housing resources, employment opportunities, hygiene facilities, Yg food, clothing, and referrals to other essential services. Grant County has helped fund the Sleep Center through COVID relief grant dollars, which are limited. While the source of these• funds will end, the Sleep Center will continue to operate to meet the housing needs of Grant County"s homeless. Providing a permanent location for the Slee Center, ,while incorporating access to essential resources and services, is an important next step to finding a solution to Grant County's homelessness crisis. This project is in line with and achieves objectives identified in the Grant County Plan to End Homelessness. We ask thatou • • y support the City's efforts to build this facility as it is critical to our vulnerable homelessp o ulation. p Sincerely, BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Rob Jones Commissioner, District #1 "To MEET CURRENT AND FUTURE NEEDS SERVING TOGETHER WITH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE EN A RESPECTFUL AND SUCCESSFUL WORK ENVIRONMENT."
