Stone; Commissioners Subject: Future Dog Shows Attention: Commissioners Danny Stone, Cindy Carter, and Rob Jones I am the president of Ephrata Moses Lake Kennel Club (EMLKC). Our approximate) 20+ club Y members have lived and been property owners and taxpayers to Grant County for over 20+ years. Our local Club is interested in the betterment of dogs and community. During the 44 years (since 1976) we have been putting on 2-3 different dog eventss 5-8 days) y) per year. r. We bring 800-1000 people from as far away as California , Montana, including Britch Columbia to Moses Lake for our Main show and 100-200 for the other shows. A majority use local Motels from Thursday — Saturdaynight. Most g teat in local Restaurants, fill up their vehicles, and do some shopping. A few come back to Vacation Golf Hunt and Fish in Grant County at other times. We bought and donated the portable Grandstands, paid toower ut and water p p along the West fence from the trees to the South of the Fair Grounds. We Donated to the local Police Dogs including ng Grant County. We have had several Council members from Grant County and Moses Lake to hand out Trophies plus p p view our show. I received comments from them about how well all the dog breeds behave also, that the recognized Y g only a few the people, We have and continue to use almost all the buildings on the west side of the Grant Count Fair Grounds. ounds. When Jerry first started, the rates were raised to where the Huck Fuller cost as much as the Kenn Ardell Kenny plus our use of the Boy Scouts building made it more economical to rent the Kenny Ardell building because we need room for 2 rings, The practice at that time was everyone had to wait till December to book the buildings that were needed. While Jerry was there, he changed sign-up to on-line in September or earlier without letting us know, Thus the Horse People were able to take the dates we needed to use the Ardell building forcing us to go back to rentingthe Huck Fuller er and 1 other building. In the past, we charged for parking at our expense until Jerry allowed Space Burgers to p g open during our show which stopped that mode of funds. A few buildings are used for grooming which is a source of income for offsetting our fees. Now this year, we were told we could not use the Home -EC building because the using Y are g i t for storage. We have people, who are veer upset, that have rented that building for 20+ years from us. The 4-H building, which we can only fit 1 ring In, was raised to the same fee as the Commercial building in which we can fit 4 rings. We know g that everyone would like to make the Fair Grounds profitable and to be known as the NW Horse Center. We know the grounds makes more money with the Horses then it does with the dogs but, the city of Moses Lake make more on dogs than g the Horses we would also like to thank you and Jim in doing good job fixing up Fair Grounds. Ifou are not g anything on Saturday or Easter Sunday, we would like you to come watch our show. Yours Truly Bill Bratton 630 E Main Po Box 655 Soap Lake WA 08851 1 (253) 536-8368
