Re: Request to proceed: 4H Bldg. RTU 1 Compressor Replacement
Dear BOCC,
On April 14th a 225 -amp fuse opened in AC Unit RTU1 on top of the 4H building. This unit
heats and cools the main floor in the building. The root cause of the fuse blowing is that a
refrigeration compressor motor for the unit was found to be shorted to ground.
Contractors were contacted to provide bids to replace the compressor, refrigerant (as it can
become acidic as a result of the failure), and the filter drier to repair this unit. The low bid is
$7,042. 00 plus tax from Basin Heating and Refrigeration.
Therefore, I am asking the Grant County Board of Commissioner's permission to proceed with
having Basin Refrigeration repair the RTU1 on top of the 4H building at the Grant County
Fairgrounds. The cost of the repair, $7,042 plus tax, would come the Grant County Fairgrounds
Facilities Repair budget 001.112.00.0000.573704800 which has a balance remaining of
$41,869.66
