One of the continuing complaints and struggles at the fairgrounds is the PA system used for call-
ups and announcements to livestock and equestrian events. We believed we had a fix and asked
for $20,000 in this year's capital budget, and it was approved. Unfortunately, after numerous
sound companies reviewed our needs and our issues, the issues were more extensive and not as
easy to fix as we had anticipated. We received quotes from three companies,
Sousley Sound (actually didn't provide a price),
Avidex (who we have used in our Cisco Webex room kit installations)
and Advanced Broadcast Solutions (ABS).
After receiving a lower quote from ABS, we inquired about any DES or cooperative purchasing
contracts. The salesman did update the price after discovering they were a part of the OMNIA
partners group, of which Grant County is a member. This program not only lowered the price by
over $10,000 from the original quote bringing the total to $43,440.09, but this program also
allowed us to forgo the bid process
We ask the Boards permission to award this work to ABS, utilizing the $20,000 from the
approved account (listed above) and $23,440.09 from the transfer account (carryover capital
from last year). This transfer from an approved budget line will allow us to fix the PA system,
and a budget extension would not be required.
