We have an approved project underway with MUSCO lighting and Neppel Electric installing
new LED lights at the Fairgrounds. We have an opportunity to perform some significant
enhancements to the grounds, but it was not a part of the initial project and would be a change
order for Neppel Electric.
We propose that while the ditches being dug for the project are open, we can utilize those ditches
for the use of fiber or network cables to be run at the Counties expense. It would provide the
ability to mount cameras on the new light poles while also providing fiber and network
connectivity for several barns giving us the ability to add PA system enhancements and call-up
enhancements during events. We will also relocate an underutilized 200a electrical panel to an
area that will be used approximately 230' away from its current location.
This work will take quite a bit of digging, conduit, and fiber, but there is saving with the ditches
already being open. We would also need to dig at least one new ditch to provide network and
fiber to the green gate area, which is not currently served.
Neppel has provided a quote of $36,840 for this work, and I recommend that we perform the
work. Currently, the funding we have will leave $2,737.97 to go towards this quote, requiring a
budget extension of $34,102.03
With the board's approval, I will ask for a public hearing to be set and to move forward with the
work.
