Re: Budget extension for $75,521.12 (Panasonic Toughbook 55-14" computer
purchase)
Grant County Technology Services (GCTS) approached the Sheriff's Office about
replacing our entire inventory of laptop computers with Panasonic Toughbook 55-
14" u nits.
GCTS said the total amount needed to outfit each vehicle is $267,401.12. GCTS has
agreed to pay $194,880.00, which leaves a remaining balance of $75,,521.12.
GCSO does not have $75,521.12 in its remaining budget, thus we would be asking
for a budget extension.
GCTS said the benefits of this purchase would be a more durable unit designed for
patrol cars, a 5 year maintenance/repair plan in the event something does break,
and GCTS would phaseout larger desk top type computers and utilize viable laptop
computers once they are removed from patrol cars.
This would enhance Grant County's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP). In the
event of office closers, employees could easily un -dock their laptop computers and
work remotely. I would request that the funding come from Law &Justice (Fund #
121).
